flurries

Alight

this week has been filled with :: warm company :: the smell of rosemary :: beeswax candles in glass jar lanterns :: roast beast :: pennies from heaven :: laughing so hard it hurts :: silly days in pajamas :: superfreak (i heart steve carell) :: late-night crepes with old friends :: making felt mice with embroidered noses for two little reindeer :: crocheting with new yarn :: finally, snow.

last night i dreamt i got a job at the small object's super organized secret underground workshop. there were lists and labels and shelves upon shelves of paper treats, it all fit so perfectly with sarah's genius. today i have been cleaning out my studio, making room for the inspirations and new discoveries i can't wait to share with you.

this year i only want one thing: to seek out that which feels true. not long ago, i read these lines at the worsted witch (i love the worsted witch), and it feels like my mantra for the year to come:

to live content with small means; to seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion; to be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not rich; to listen to stars and birds, babes and sages, with open heart; to study hard, to think quietly, act frankly, talk gently, await occasions, hurry never; in a word, to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious, grow up through the common — this is my symphony. ~ william henry channing

hoping your holidays were wonderful and wishing you joy and mittens for the new year :)

i need some elves

i don't know everyone who peeks in here, but i wanted to say thank you so much for coming to my shop + blog. it means so much to me, you have no idea! last week was a happy blur of packages and snowy walks to the post office, where the postman was still friendly before the real frazzled look sets in (soon). i was so wonderfully overwhelmed last week i didn't get a chance to say thank you (thank you shari!) and welcome! there's a project by artist lizzie ridout that i love :: she stencils a pretty welcome in chalk dust and then, with the inevitable steps of invited feet, it's swept away and we continue on with our day. but we still hold that welcome, we can still see it in the little swirls of dust left behind. :)

i also like how she says when "someone moves around a space, they create an invisible drawing under their soles."

so i have been knitting, knitting, and loving every minute of it. i settled down to watch the episode of the gilmore girls' we had downloaded last week and found a knitathon unfolding in front of me! perfect! there are more scarves in the shop (and a new one i think will be called cobblestone coming soon..) and winter ornaments for you to wear too...

i love window shopping from your desk, grab a cup of hot chocolate and let your fingertips do the wandering. i had this sweet guy by kate sutton in my etsy favourites, and every day i would wonder, is he gone? so i finally had to get him, because he is too cute to be forgotten.

now i just have to check off everyone else on my list ;)
